Maruia Falls takes you by surprise with its sheer drop on an otherwise tranquil trail. This 10 m long waterfall occurs on the Mauria River that originates in the Spenser Mountains. This river follows a southward course for 80 km till it decides to make a return trip home and turns swiftly on its heels to cut past Murchison and join the Buller River full throttle.
