New Zealand Tourist Attractions

Aotearoa!

No. It ain't the word for hello or a Maori slang for wow! Have I been transported to a Lord of the Rings set? Aotearoa is the original name of New Zealand before Abel van Tasman and Captain James Cook mapped the 15,000 sq km of coastline.

Aotearoa, or the land of the long white cloud as the Polynesians preferred to call it, is nothing but the gorgeous island country of New Zealand. Its present and more urban friendly name has been derived from the Dutch explorer Tasman's homeland in Zeeland, a quaint province in Netherlands.

New Zealand Tourist Attractions Highlights

While the tongue twisters for names are still an integral part of New Zealand's eclectic cultural charm, it is the raw beauty and ecological diversity of New Zealand that draw holidaymakers, explorers and adventure sports enthusiasts in a hoard.

With a civilization that dates back to 2000 years; a multicultural ambience that has subtle influence of Maori, European, Pacific, Asian and Australian influences; Kiwis that are as open, cheerful and sophisticated yet friendly as the fruit that goes by the same name; and landscapes in vivid colors that'll even make the rainbow smile; its no wonder that your friends claim that you are hard to please. C'mon, you should have been off to New Zealand by now.
