Tour route: Auckland - Bay of Islands - Auckland
We leave by coach from Auckland in the morning to explore the Bay of Islands. Situated 260 Km north of Auckland, the Bay of Islands is located on the eastern side of the Northland Peninsula. It is known for its large bay, which encompasses over 150 islands.
We leave Auckland and travel north along the Harbour Bridge to the North Shore residential district. We pass through the Hibiscus Coast where we see its lovely beaches and then go through Whangerei, the biggest port in Northlands.
On reaching the Bay of Islands we see the Waitangi Treaty House, where the European settlers and the Maori people signed a historic treaty. Here you can see a Maori war canoe and a traditional meeting house. We then take a ferry ride across the bay to Russell, the first European settlement here.
In Russell we take a tour of the town and see its waterfront, where you can shop for souvenirs and see the memorabilia of the whaling industry. Then we board the ferry to Paihiawhere there are many shopping arcades and a picturesque wharf. We then board the coach back to Auckland at the end of our Bay of Islands tour.
