Tour route: Christchurch - Glaciers - Franz Josef Glacier - Queenstown - Milford - Te Anau - Christchurch
Day 1: Christchurch - Glaciers
Board the TranzAlpine Train at Christchurch and travel over the Canterbury Plains and Arthur's Pass National park, through a tunnel under the Southern Alps to the West Coast where we proceed past stunning mountain scenery to the Franz Josef Glacier region. Stay overnight at Franz Josef.
Day 2: Franz Josef Glacier
Take a tour of the Franz Josef Glacier and see the beautiful landscape of the region.
Day 3: Glaciers - Queenstown
Travel to South Westland along the coast and the Haast River. We pass by Lakes Wanaka and Hawea and over the Kawarau Gorge to arrive at Queenstown, where you stay overnight.
Day 4: Queenstown
Spend a day at Queenstown and indulge in walking tours, sheep farm tours, lake cruises, bungee jumping, and water sports. You can also try a ride on the skyline Gondola. Stay overnight in Queenstown.
Day 5: Queenstown - Milford - Te Anau
Travel by coach along Lake Wakatipu to Kingston and Te Anau, go through the Homer Tunnel and the Cleddau Canyon, the Eglinton and Hollyford Valleys and arrive at Milford Sound. Here you can have an enjoyable cruise on Milford Sound and view Mitre Peak and the waterfalls that surround you. Stay overnight in Te Anau.
Day 6: Te Anau - Dunedin
Travel through the pastureland of South Otago and Southland, Gore and Balclutha as you make your way to Dunedin. Take a Dunedin tour and see its heritage sights. Stay overnight in Dunedin.
Day 7: Dunedin - Christchurch
Travel by coach through the hill landscape of Otago to Oamaru, Timaru and the Canterbury Plains till you arrive in Christchurch at the end of your Alpine New Zealand Tour.
