About The TranzAlpine Train

The TranzAlpine Train journey is one of the most famous journeys in the world. You will get the opportunity to see the lush Canterbury fields. The length of the journey is 223 kilometers or 139 miles one way. The time required for the sojourn is around 4½ hours. This train also offers you the spectacular sight of the Waimakariri River. This train journey takes you from one shore of New Zealand to another. The Southern Alps is the main attraction of this journey. Skiers and snowboarders often prefer this train route to reach the glaciers and other tourist attractions in the country.

A journey on the TranzAlpine Train is the perfect honeymoon trip or weekend vacation.

There are 4 bridges and 19 tunnels during the journey. The tallest bridge is the Staircase with an elevation of 73 meters. The services are available on a daily basis.
