The European immigrants arrived in Westport in 1861 and gold mining was their main occupation. In 1884, the first vessel that reached this township was Three Brothers. Further, in few years, the town became popular for coal mining, which is still a dominant area here. Today, this thriving town has a population of about 7000.

Oparara Valley
Oparara Valley sprawls across a lush rainforest with three entrancing limestone arches carved out by the Oparara River and underground caves. Your attention will gradually shift towards the streams laced with verdant bush, which makes for an interesting view.
Cape Foulwind Hike
This hiking trail is very popular in Westport. Commencing from Westport, the hike continues through the coast to the seal colony. On this tour, you will get to witness fog and wind. The hiking will last for about ½ hour.
