Akaroa

Akaroa is a famous resort village, placed on the beautiful Akaroa harbor amid rocky volcanic hills. It’s an ancient French and British settlement, snuggled in the heart of a historic volcano. Akaroa - Location:

The sole French settlement in New Zealand, Akora lies on the Banks Peninsula in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand.

Akaroa- Historic Trivia:

In 1830 the Māori settlement at Takapuneke was sacked by the British. This led to mayhem in the area. As a result of which a British official Resident James Busby was appointed to New Zealand in 1832. This decision opened doors for British involvement in the region.

On 15th of June 1839 an Imperial Proclamation was issued which proclaimed New Zealand as a part of British Colony.
