Paparoa National Park

For the best coastal walks and the most popular Pancake Rocks and Blowholes Walk, you know where to go. The perfect hotspot, Paporao National Park is ideal for some spending some amazing time with your near and dear ones.

Paparoa Park is a gateway to Luscious Coastal Forest, Sandstone Cliffs & Canyons, Mysterious Caves & Underground Streams and Splendid Coastline.

Established in 1987, Paparoa National Park lies in the northern zone of South Island's West Coast. It is situated beside the State Highway 6, amid the towns of Westport and Greymouth.

Spread over an area of 30,000 Hectares Paparoa comprises Brilliant Bushes, Mountains, Coasts and Waterways. It is a primary 'scientific' national park of Aotearoa and is proud of its unique ecosystem. It is famed as the greatest ecological system consisting of adjoining warm lowland coastal forest. Western Paparoa Range bears extreme international value owing to rare plants and species which grow here. During the ice age it was considered as a refuge for plants.

The forest houses an endangered Fern Asplenium Cimmeriorum. It also is a home to a few of native birds like spotted Kiwi Kaka, Kereru, Weka, Yellow-Crowned Parakeets and Robin.

The climate of the area is mild where as the ground is fertile.

One can easily access Paparoa's world of magnificent lakes and ranges via a bus to Westport or Greymouth.
